I’ve spent several moments reflecting on the events of Holy Week. Today is Good Friday – the day we remember the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for our sins. As my faith grows and I study more, I am overwhelmed with grief and sorrow thinking of the pain and suffering Jesus went through in his final hours. Not only do I think of His suffering, but I can’t help but think of how God felt in those final moments too. Such pain and agony as He watched His son endure the death He alone planned for a better world, for all of us. I think of just how much God sacrificed and how deep His love for us must be to give up His one and only son. In these thoughts, I find myself hugging my boys a bit tighter. My love for them is deep, yet God’s love is greater. It’s immeasurably more than I can imagine and although I don’t believe it’s possible to love my children more, I’m comforted in knowing they are so deeply loved by God.
I wrote the poem below in my time alone with God today. Although this time wasn’t planned, I was moved and began writing. When He speaks, you just gotta be ready to take action.
I Hold You Tight
On Earth he lived From Heaven he came To wipe away all sin and shame. All pain endured the son felt weak He could’ve called angels but did not speak. Life’s final breath The promise complete An ultimate price freed you and me. We remember the cross The lamb that was slain And how death brought life for us to claim. As I tuck you in, I hold you tight. I think of the Father, His love, His might, To send His son A boy like you To live to die, and see it through. Although my heart aches If I didn’t have you, My soul knows His resurrection made true. There's a place in Heaven To meet up above All be because of the Father’s unconditional Love.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 NIV
