Joyful Living

“You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.’”

Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭28‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In Acts, Peter quotes David as he speaks of the prophecy of Jesus to a group of Jews who are questioning the disciples being filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in native tongues. After showing evidence of the fulfillment of the prophecy through Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection, he shares the story of David and God’s promise to David that Jesus would be part of his lineage. Although David did not get to see this, he was filled with joy knowing that God was present and would continue to be in this family. Although having Joy and being filled with the Holy Spirit are not used synonymously, we can see that in several verses, being filled with the Holy Spirit brings joy.

To us, living a joyful life is not being happy all the time. It’s doing all the things in your life with a since of gratitude, hope, and peace. Most of the articles you’ll see on DBL on Joyful Living will be focused on sharing ideas and experiences around jobs/activities/duties that we are encouraged to do as parents but may often times seem mundane, stressful, or avoided at all costs.
