Teacher Appreciation Week Gift Ideas
I believe teachers should be celebrated every day, but I am very glad that we take a week to do something extra special for our teachers! There are several ways to show your child’s teacher(s) that you care about them. A small gift of appreciation means you acknowledge their efforts and the impact they are making in your child’s life. There is, however, an added pressure as a parent to buy an appropriate, budget friendly, yet thoughtful gift. Think about it, a well-seasoned teacher probably has enough coffee mugs, notepads, pens, and Tervis cups that they don’t really need another. Teachers just beginning their career can use a mug or two of course, but what happens when every kid brings in “#1 Teacher” mugs? Yikes! So the question is:
What is the Best Gift for Teachers?
In my opinion, I think looking for items that are personal and/or provide an experience for the teacher are wonderful and thoughtful gifts. As our kids get older it may be harder to add the personal touch to our gifts as we may not have as many opportunities to get to know our children’s teachers, but there are some go-to gifts that could work for any parent to purchase and teacher to receive. Whether you’re an Amazon Prime member, a crafter, a target pick-up parent or anywhere in between, here are a few gift ideas to get those educating the future in your life.
Gifts may range anywhere from $2.00 – $40.00
Teacher Gifts on Amazon
What’s not to love about Amazon? As great as Amazon is, it does require parents to plan ahead a little bit. From some unfortunate personal experiences, I would say give Prime a 3-day delivery window “just in case” and allow yourself time to wrap or package your gift. Any of these gifts can be given as a single gift or paired with something handmade by your child to add a personal touch.

- A Care Package – comfy socks, a tumbler, a “survival kit” makeup/supplies bag
- Personalized Jewelry – It’s whimsical and personalized and your teacher will think of your kiddo when they wear it!
- Stamps/fun school supplies – Who doesn’t love school supplies?
Crafty Gifts for Teachers
For the crafty parents and kiddos the gifts below might be the way to go! You can talk to your child about the qualities of a good teacher and the things that they love about their teacher.
- Thank You Cards/Pictures – Who doesn’t love a cute handmade thank you card or picture from a kid?
- Decorated Planter with Flowers – This gift is easy for a teacher to take home or keep in his/her classroom. Flowers may be a challenge to maintain, so succulents are always a good option because they are very low maintenance yet still beautiful!
- Handpainted or Decorated Picture Frame – if your kids are crafty and you have a class picture, this is a cute and personal gift where your child can participate.

Teacher Gifts for the “On-The-Go” Parent
If you don’t have time to browse, a pick-up order at your favorite grocery/retail store can be a great place to stop on the way home from your busy day.

1. Flowers and a Scented Candle – simple and sweet for any teacher no matter how long they have been teaching.
2. Chocolates/snacks and a Facial Mask – it says “indulge and relax! You deserve it!”
3. Sharpies and a Journal – every teacher needs a notebook/journal whether it is for professional or personal use, it doesn’t matter, they will use it! Consider pairing the journal with fancy pens that they probably wouldn’t buy themselves!
No matter how you choose to celebrate the teachers in your child’s life, I encourage you to take a moment and say Thank You!
